Ecommpay challenges the lack of payment solution choice for micro enterprises

Responding to the limited choice of checkout-optimised payment solutions for small businesses , inclusive global payment solutions provider, Ecommpay, has launched a new self-serve payments platform. Built on the success of its enterprise level solution, Ecommpay for Small Businesses is designed specifically for UK-registered small businesses selling online who have been trading for a minimum of six months and have less than 2 million euros in annual revenue, including those running WooCommerce stores and custom-built websites. At the heart of the new platform is the capability to go live within hours of onboarding , using the Ecommpay Hosted Payment Page, at a highly competitive transaction rate and without any volume threshold.

For many small businesses, despite having a great product or idea, the payment process offered to customers can be a barrier to success,” explained Max Ryzhov, Chief Product Officer, Ecommpay. “Enterprise-quality payment infrastructure is out of reach unless they are processing at scale, which may result in higher decline rates or elevated per-transaction costs. And the lack of developer resources in these businesses limits their options to optimise checkout performance”.

With Ecommpay for Small Businesses we are actively tackling these issues. We have taken the same risk management, smart routing and fraud infrastructure we operate for enterprise clients to create a solution for micro enterprises at a competitive rate starting from 1.30% + 20p per UK transaction, with no monthly fee or minimum commitment.”

With Ecommpay for Small Businesses, merchants can go live within a day of onboarding , and with a direct plugin for WooCommerce, Magento 2 and Xero no developer involvement is required. The fully brandable Hosted Payment Page, which has been accredited for accessibility by the Digital Accessibility Centre, is also built-in as a default, to be launched from the merchant Dashboard without any technical resource.

The new solution includes Visa and Mastercard and Apple Pay and Google Pay as standard, payment links for social commerce and B2B bespoke orders, and a basic recurring payment capability. Plus, all features operate within a single merchant account and a unified Dashboard - removing the reconciliation complexity that often arises from managing multiple payment tools.

Ecommpay has delivered global payment processing since 2012, serving enterprise clients across Europe. The new Small Business proposition makes the underlying infrastructure of that platform - including intelligent transaction routing to maximise authorisation rates and enterprise-level fraud and risk management - available to small business merchants for the first time, without a volume threshold or enterprise contract.

Merchants without a developer can be live within hours using the Hosted Payment Page, a no-code checkout configurable entirely from the merchant Dashboard. WooCommerce merchants can install the direct plugin and switch payment provider without touching their checkout design, product catalogue or Xero integration. Merchants on custom-built sites requiring an embedded checkout can migrate via API which typically requires one to three days of developer time, not a rebuild.

Ecommpay for Small Businesses also includes a 24/7 AI assistant, accessible via the merchant portal, to answer questions on pricing, integration, switching, and account setup at any hour - with escalation to human support rather than waiting for ticket or multi-day response windows.

UK small businesses running their own online checkout have only had limited choice to date,” added Max Ryzhov. “We are challenging that with Ecommpay for Small Businesses.”
